NoHo, New York – Shouting over music and pouring from her table’s 2-liter bottle of Grey Goose, Alicia Chen, 24, told friends last night that she works in finance to give back one day. From the intimacy of her booth, Ms. Chen explained that while the money is appreciated it’s ultimately not about “all this. It’s about having an impact. You know? With money.”
The Stanford graduate, who has not yet donated a significant portion of her money or time through several years as an investment banker, remained optimistic that she would give more in the future. “I’ve been really slammed at work,” Chen explained, “and I just don’t make that much yet. But later on. Just wait.”
Chen was last seen ordering another bottle for her table and telling the server that her grandfather grew up poor.
